Dr David Guy
BDS (Wales), PG Cert Restorative Dentistry (Eastman), MSc Implant Dentistry (Warwick). Founder and College Principal.
David qualified as a dentist from Cardiff Dental School, where he was awarded the Wystan Peach prize for Restorative Dentistry. He went on to complete, with Distinction, a Masters degree in Implant Dentistry at Warwick Medical School, followed by a postgraduate Certificate in Restorative Dentistry at the Eastman Institute, University College London, again with Distinction.
He was the first person to be awarded a Fellowship of the British Society of Oral Implantology. David was an Associate Fellow of the Clinical Institute of Education at Warwick Medical School, where he taught on the MSc Implant Dentistry course, before founding an independent implant teaching facility that became Guy’s College.
Research and clinical innovation
David has been involved in research into stem cell technology for bone regeneration with Swansea University. Between 2010 and 2012 he pioneered a three-layer protocol for alveolar ridge augmentation (socket grafting), which has since become widely used. A study of the technique demonstrated bone volume preservation of between 95% and 105%, well above most techniques reported in the literature.
Teaching at Guy’s College
David leads every course personally, teaching in small groups at his Wimpole Street practice and supporting delegates with their own patient cases during and after the course.
